THE STORY...

This image is a moment from the ballet Giselle where she is quite literally going mad. There is a lot in the world right now that is enough to make one go crazy. Things are different and sometimes strange or uncomfortable.

As I was painting I was encouraged by a verse in Matthew 7 that says "therefore if anyone hears these words of mine and puts them into practice he will be like the wise man who built his house upon the rock. The rains came down, the streams rose and the wind blew and beat against that house, but it did not fall because its foundation was on the rock."

We all experience storms in life the question is where will you build your foundation? What will anchor you during those storms?

I am learning and growing in this life and when it all seems a bit much I pray my response would be on of surrender and gratitude and from gratitude to worship for the one who holds it all. Brandon Lake says it well....

I've got one responseI've got just one moveWith my arm stretched wideI will worship You
… So I throw up my handsAnd praise You again and again'Cause all that I have is a hallelujahHallelujahAnd I know it's not muchBut I've nothing else fit for a KingExcept for a heart singing hallelujahHallelujah
… So come on, my soulOh, don't you get shy on meLift up your song'Cause you've got a lion inside of those lungsGet up and praise the Lord
THE MISSION...
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this painting will go to support Rise Up Dance Project. Rise Up is a dance organization that utilizes dance to bring about awareness of the horrors that human trafficking and other traumas leave behind in their sufferers. It offers a form of healing to those that have suffered, teaches people how to utilize dance in a therapeutic way, and then teaches that skill to others. Thus perpetuating love and a hope for healing throughout the world to those who have suffered any form of trauma. Currently Rise Up Dance Project is in El Salvador with a group learning more about the culture, taking classes at local studios, serving a safe house, and other organizations. Rise Up aims to grow leaders who are compassionate, confident and brave to go change futures for the better.
