THE STORY...

A dear friend asked specifically for something depicting a change in terrain. As she described it she said something that really struck me and I was thinking about it quite a lot as I was painting. The thought was this, "plants don't grow at the tops of mountains, they grow in the low places".

Well isn't that the truth? In the journey of life we are often seeking mountain top after mountain top, and indeed the high places offer a great perspective. But often times when we are going through the valleys of life, the harder, darker times - that is where the character is grown. So take heart, if you are in a valley because often times rivers exist there. Seek the Lord, let your soul find rest and be filled. One day you'll again have the strength to climb the mountain.

THE MISSION...

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this painting goes to support Iran Alive Ministries. Iran Alive is a church-planting ministry that uses modern technology to share the gospel, train believers, and fuel a discipleship-making movement. They broadcast life-giving, gospel-centric messages around the clock to some of the darkest regions of the world, spreading the love of Christ to oppressed Islamic-run Iran. Where it is illegal to gather for a Christian church service, they provide weekly church services, fellowship, and discipleship for the underground Church in Iran. And at the 4:12 Discipleship Training School, they provide opportunities for practical ministry while training believers for the work of ministry, and support God’s spiritual awakening movement in Iran.
